The Ghana national football team Management Committee on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Ghana’s National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, to seek spiritual support and prayers ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The high-powered delegation was led by Moses Armah, President of Medeama SC and member of the Black Stars Management Committee. Also present were Samuel Aboabire, former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, and other key football administrators.
The visit forms part of wider preparations by the Ghana Football Association as the country intensifies efforts to ensure a successful campaign at football’s biggest tournament this summer.
Delegation Seeks Spiritual Backing
During the meeting, the delegation appealed to the respected Islamic leader for prayers, blessings, and spiritual guidance as Ghana prepares to compete against some of the world’s strongest football nations.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Moses Armah thanked the Chief Imam for his continuous support for the national team over the years and stressed the importance of unity and faith ahead of the tournament.
He noted that national support — both spiritual and emotional — would be crucial as the Black Stars aim to make the country proud on the global stage.

Chief Imam Pledges Support
In response, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu reaffirmed his support for the Black Stars and pledged nationwide prayers for the team throughout the tournament.
The respected religious leader encouraged unity among Ghanaians and expressed hope that the team would perform strongly and bring joy to the nation.
