Captain Joseph Narbi strike earns Black Starlets friendly win over Port City

Captain Joseph Narbi scored the game-winning goal as Black Starlets defeated Division One League leaders Port City in a pre-tournament friendly, bolstering their spirits.

Minutes after kickoff, Narbi calmly slotted in what turned out to be the game’s only goal, capping off a well-executed team play. The early goal set the stage for a fierce match that put the Starlets’ preparation and organization to the test.

With relentless pressing and well-organized play, Port City put pressure on the opposition and demonstrated why they are atop Zone Three. The Starlets were forced to maintain discipline throughout the match as a result of their intensity, which offered the level of competition required to challenge the national U17 team.

The match forms part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Morocco in April. The technical team has prioritised competitive friendlies to sharpen match fitness and assess squad depth.

The Starlets are scheduled to play Semper Fi later in the day as part of a deliberate plan to give all players adequate game time and prepare them for tournament conditions.
