Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru regrets red card against K.V. Mechelen

After being sent off during the Belgian top-flight match between RAAL La Louviere and K.V. Mechelen over the weekend, Ghanaian international Majeed Ashimeru has acknowledged his disappointment.

Ashimeru, who had substitute appearances against Union SG and Anderlecht, had a tough afternoon after being sent off just 16 minutes into his third club game.

His chance to make an impression right away was cut short when he was dismissed after a VAR review of his challenge.

“The red card disappointed me. “It was inadvertent, but I had to make amends for the fans,” he posted on Instagram.

Ashimeru joined RAAL La Louviere on loan from Belgian Pro League side RSC Anderlecht in the second half of the season, a move that runs until the end of the season. The club confirmed his arrival as their fourth signing of the winter transfer window, expressing confidence that his experience and quality would strengthen the squad for the remainder of the campaign.

The early sending-off is a setback for both player and club as RAAL La Louviere continue their push for a strong second half of the season.
