After Leicester City’s return to the second division, Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is prepared for the start of the new English Championship season this week.
Due to a six-month anterior cruciate ligament injury, the Black Stars forward, Fatawu Issahaku, missed the majority of the previous season as the Foxes were demoted from the English Premier League.

After a protracted recuperation process, Fatawu Issahaku is fully recovered and participated in his team’s preseason exercises, including Sunday’s friendly match against Fiorentina. In the 2-0 victory over the Italians, the 20-year-old scored an incredible solo goal.
He is anticipated to debut for Leicester in their 2025–2026 season opener against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
“The come back is personal. Thanks to everyone for the support throughout this journey, was lovely to be back at the King power again. See you next weekend for the main business,” he posted on social media after the game against Fiorentina.
Issahaku’s first season with the 2016 Premier League champions saw him play a leading role with 19-goal contribution as they returned to the Premier League.
Before suffering the injury last season, he had made 11 Premier League appearances, delivering two assists.
