Following a three-year tenure, Middlesbrough has fired head coach Michael Carrick.
On Wednesday morning, the 43-year-old met with club executives, including owner Steve Gibson, to discuss his future. Michael Carrick had been in command since October 2022, but throughout his three seasons in leadership, he was unable to guide the team to the Premier League; on Wednesday morning, owner Steve Gibson told Carrick of his fate.

Carrick has been in charge since October 2022 and he failed to lead the club to the Premier League in the three seasons in charge.
The former Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham midfielder is a popular figure on Teesside but the club feel this is the right time for a change.
