Why the Black Stars need Eddie Nketiah is explained by former Kotoko coach Opeele.
Isaac Opeele Boateng, the former coach of Asante Kotoko, has responded to rumors that striker Eddie Nketiah may be open to playing for the Ghanaian Black Stars.
After the Black Stars’ 5–0 thumping of the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Eddie Nketiah and winger Callum Hudson-Odoi became popular on social media.

According to the rumors, the two, who have repeatedly turned down Ghana, are now debating whether or not to play for the Black Stars.
In response to the rumors that have gone viral on social media, Coach Opeele Boateng stated that he “emotionally” disagrees with the choice to bring Eddie Nketiah on board.
But for the upcoming major games, he said, the Crystal Palace striker will be needed.
“If Nketiah says he is ready to play for Ghana. Me: Emotionally No. But we need him for big games so, I will say YES!” Isaac Opeele Boateng posted on his X page as sighted by Osikanitv.
