Ghana’s second-highest Premier League scorer, Antoine Semenyo, overtakes Tony Yeboah.

After surpassing the great Tony Yeboah to become the second-highest scorer in Premier League history, Antoine Semenyo has cemented his place in Ghanaian football history.

With a spectacular brace in their 3-1 comeback victory over Fulham at the Vitality Stadium on Friday night, the Bournemouth forward reached the milestone.

Semenyo’s double increased his season total to six goals and his Premier League total to 26 goals, two more than Yeboah’s 24 goals.

Only Erling Haaland, who has scored eight goals this season, is behind the Ghanaian winger, who is still one of the league’s best players.

In addition, he contributed an assist that evening, raising his total to three, which puts him behind just Jack Grealish.

Yeboah made 47 appearances in his three memorable seasons with Leeds United in the 1990s; the 25-year-old has already made 88 appearances in league games, 41 more than Yeboah.

He has averaged a goal per three Premier League games due to his consistency, which is impressive for a player who is only in his mid-twenties.

Jordan Ayew, Ghana’s all-time Premier League top scorer with 42 goals in 305 games, is currently Semenyo’s target.

The Black Stars’ lasting reputation in English football is cemented by Jeffrey Schlupp, who comes in fourth place behind them with 22 goals, just ahead of former Ghana captain André Ayew.

But Leeds reacted quickly, and 10 minutes later, defender Joe Rodon headed home Sean Longstaff’s corner after goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic was wrong-footed by a deflection.

Following the half, the home team took control, and Leeds took the lead for the first time in the 54th minute when Longstaff turned goalscorer with a brilliant volley from the edge of the area.

They looked set to claim all three points until stoppage time, when substitute Eli Junior Kroupi struck with a well-executed volley to rescue Bournemouth a share of the spoils.

The 2-2 result lifts the Cherries into third place, while Leeds remain mid-table in 11th.

Semenyo’s bright start to the season continues, with four goals and two assists in just six league appearances.

The 24-year-old is expected to feature again when Bournemouth host Fulham at the Vitality Stadium on Friday before linking up with the Black Stars for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros.

In the 37th minute, newcomer Hugo Ekitike opened the goal by jumping on a loose ball inside the penalty area and shooting into the bottom right corner.

Cody Gakpo’s incredible low strike from the edge of the box in the 49th minute doubled the Reds’ lead.

When Antoine Semenyo reacted fastest to a loose ball in the box in the 64th minute, he slotted home to cut the deficit and start Bournemouth’s comeback.

The Ghanaian’s brilliant moment came twelve minutes later when he leveled the score with a perfect shot from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom right corner.

Even though he gave a fantastic effort, AFC Bournemouth was unable to earn a point.

Liverpool secured all three points at full time with late goals from Mohammed Salah in extra time and Federico Chiesa in the 88th minute.
