Due to persistent rumors regarding his future with Newcastle United, Alexander Isak is not part of the team for the preseason tour of Asia.
Isak will miss the tour due to a minor thigh injury, according to Newcastle. Earlier this week, ESPN confirmed getting information that Al Hilal had looked into a deal for Isak. Isak’s transfer to Liverpool has also been mentioned.
Howe said he could not promise he would still be at Newcastle at the end of the transfer window, which is why he was left out of Saturday’s friendly against Celtic.
“I think it’s difficult for me to give 100% clarity on any player,” Howe said. “I’d never sit here and do that because it’s football and you never know what can happen.
“But Alex is happy at Newcastle. He loves the players he plays with, the staff, the team and I’ve never had any issue with him.”
