Twanyanyukwa Appointed as Match Referee for WAFCON 2024 Final
ELITE Antsino will be the first Namibian to lead the WAFCON final ahead of the crucial match of the tournament. a group of seasoned African female authorities assigned to the big day. CAF’s ongoing commitment to women’s football is shown in the all-female officials.
Another well-known name is at the forefront of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) booth. The VAR will be Salima Mukansanga of Rwanda, a trailblazer in international football officiating and a highly esteemed person in women’s football.

In 2022, Mukansanga made history by becoming the first female referee at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). She has since brought her Olympic and FIFA Women’s World Cup experience to the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON in Morocco in 2024.
Letticia Viana (Eswatini) as AVAR 1 and Diana Chikotesha (Zambia) as AVAR 2, two up-and-coming talents in Africa’s officiating ranks, will be supporting her in this final. Antsino officiated a number of important games, and her ability to maintain composure under pressure won over the CAF Technical and Refereeing Committee. Her most recent performance demonstrated her remarkable match control and fitness, both of which are essential in today’s game.
Desire Noumandiez Doue, CAF Head of Refereeing, praised her appointment. Desire stated, “Their appointment was based on their consistent quality and performance.” It is the outcome of their diligence in practice and officiating games, as well as their general preparedness.
The all-women officiating team for the final reflects CAF’s continued investment in women’s football and its commitment to creating opportunities for women at every level of the game. Speaking ahead of the final, Antsino reflected not only on her personal journey but on the legacy, she hopes to inspire.
“I know everyone will be happy for me now, because in Namibia, support comes naturally. I believe this moment will inspire many. To the young ones out there: work hard, stay disciplined, and always pray. Stay focused, and nothing will stop you from achieving your goals.” The CAF WAFCON, Morocco 2024 Final will be contested between Nigeria and Morocco on Saturday, July 26 at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
