On Friday, September 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium, President John Dramani Mahama will join the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in kicking off the 2025–26 Ghana Premier League season.
Hearts of Oak will play freshly promoted Hoehoe United in the inaugural match of the tournament, which is planned for 5:00 p.m. and will formally usher in a new era of local football.
The GFA announced that multiple award-winning reggae-dancehall artist Stonebwoy will perform live during the ceremony in addition to confirming the president’s appearance as Special Guest of Honor.

“The Ghana Premier League season for 2025–2026 is now underway! On September 12, 2025, at 5:00 PM, come see us at the Accra Sports Stadium. His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama will join us, and Stonebwoy, the Torcher, will play live. The GFA wrote on X, “Get ready for an exciting season of Ghanaian football.”
