Sports Minister Kofi Adams back Black Stars for ‘revenge’ clash against Comoros

Sports Minister Kofi Adams rallies the Black Stars for their “revenge” match against Comoros in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

In their last 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, Kofi Adams, Minister of Youth and Sports, has asked the Black Stars to look for atonement.

After losing to Comoros at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and again in the early rounds of the current qualifying campaign in Moroni, Ghana will be looking to exact revenge on the island nation.

Prior to the pivotal match, Mr. Adams, who is also the Buem Constituency’s Member of Parliament, urged the players to exercise care while remaining resolute.

“On Sunday, it is a revenge against Comoros. We have lost to them twice, and that was during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and the second game of the qualifiers in Moroni, and so we need to win on Sunday,” he told Adom FM.

“But then also, we have to tread cautiously against Comoros not to think that we have goal advantage over the teams, but the point is that we must get revenge against them.”

In order to support the team’s efforts to qualify for the World Cup the following year, the Minister also urged Ghanaians to pack Accra Sports Stadium.

“I implore Ghanaians to show their support for the team by packing the Accra Sports Stadium.
