French referee Clément Turpin has been appointed to officiate Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash against Colombia at Kansas City Stadium on Friday, July 3.

The 43-year-old is among the most experienced referees in international football, having overseen several major matches, including the 2022 UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Turpin has also impressed at this year’s World Cup. He officiated England’s 4-2 victory over Croatia during the group stage and previously served as the fourth official in the tournament’s opening match between Mexico and South Africa.

He will be assisted by fellow French officials Nicolas Danos and Cyril Gringore, while Jérôme Brisard will lead the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) team, alongside Willy Delajod and Benoît Millot.

His appointment comes ahead of one of the biggest matches of Ghana’s campaign. The Black Stars are aiming to secure a place in the Round of 16 for the first time since the 2010 FIFA World Cup, while Colombia will be looking to continue their impressive run after finishing top of Group K.

With a wealth of experience on the biggest stages of world football, Turpin will be expected to ensure a fair and well-managed contest as both teams battle for a place in the next round.
