According to local police, British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was hurt in a traffic accident in Nigeria that also allegedly killed two other persons.

Joshua was among those transported to the hospital, according to Nigerian police, following the collision on Monday morning along the crowded Lagos–Ibadan motorway.

The 36-year-old is seen grimacing as he tries to escape the wreckage while sitting topless at the rear of a damaged car surrounded by broken glass in pictures and videos that have gone viral online.

Local media reports say Joshua was travelling in the back seat of a Lexus when it collided with a stationary truck, while a Pajero vehicle was also involved in the incident.

An eyewitness, Adeniyi Orojo, told Nigerian newspaper The Punch that four people were inside the Lexus at the time of the crash, with Joshua seated behind the driver. His security detail was said to be travelling in a separate vehicle behind them.

The Ogun State Police Command later confirmed that two people died in the accident, while Joshua and other injured victims were taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

Kwesi Appiah, the head coach of Sudan’s national football team, contends that for the squad to succeed at the current African Cup of Nations in Morocco, supporters need pray and keep up their support.

In September 2023, Kwesi Appiah became the Sudan national team’s new head coach. He has had a significant influence on the team, particularly in helping them qualify for the 2025 AFCON following their final appearance in 2021.

Sudan’s AFCON campaign got off to a rough start as they were unable to secure three points against Algeria in the group stage match.

Sudanese are urged to pray and support the team by coach Kwesi Appiah.

Kwesi Appiah went back to his board with his technical team and came back to the field to play their second game with Equatorial Guinea, and they were victorious, and that win made their chance of being at the round of 16 possible. Kwesi said in a post-match interview, pleaded for the team’s supporters to support them with prayers. This is what he said:

“My message to all Sudanese people is simple: pray for us and support the team. Sudanese people are scattered across Africa and the world due to the conflict, and their presence in the stadium gives the players great strength. We will fight to keep raising the flag of Sudan.” They will play their last group stage match with Burkina Faso, and a win from that game will push them out to the round of 16.

The Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to change the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) schedule has drawn harsh criticism from former Ghana coach Claude Le Roy.

Dr. Patrice Motsepe, president of CAF, recently said that the AFCON will now take place every four years rather than every two, beginning with the 2028 edition co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

Le Roy did not hold back when he questioned FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s impact on African football in an interview with Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.

What knowledge does Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, possess? What life lessons does he know? Take a look at how close he has gotten to Donald Trump. It is disgusting.

Le Roy also criticized Infantino’s behavior during the AFCON 2025 opening ceremony.

“Football in Africa is under serious attack. It is very wrong to change the AFCON from a two to a four-year event.

“Look at the way Infantino was acting during the AFCON 2025 opening ceremony, like he owns the place. Can he do this at a UEFA event?. When Issa Hayatou was president, these things would never have happened,” he added.

CAF’s decision has sparked widespread debate, with many fans and football stakeholders calling for the tournament to continue on a biennial basis.

Antoine Semenyo, a forward for Ghana, wants his future decided before the transfer window formally starts on January 1.

After Bournemouth accepted an offer from the former English champions, the 25-year-old allegedly consented to sign with Manchester City.

Semenyo’s £65 million release clause is anticipated to be activated by City before it expires on January 10, which also gives Liverpool the option to gazump the transfer.

According to reports, Bournemouth wants the Ghana international to be ready for the games against Arsenal and Tottenham during the holiday season before leaving for Etihad, even though City is still the favorite to sign him.

Antoine Semenyo wants future decided before January 1

However, Semenyo is determined to see his dream move happen early January to avoid any last minute hitch.

The versatile attacker has been on the radar of several clubs after an outstanding campaign last season and early this campaign, where he has already netted nine league goals.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in the former Bristol City player.

Tom Saintfiet, the head coach of Mali, has voiced his displeasure with CAF’s choice to switch the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to a four-year cycle.

Dr. Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), declared earlier this year that AFCON would be contested every four years beginning with the 2028 edition, coupled with the establishment of a new Nations League.

The goal of the modification is to bring Africa’s top competition into line with other significant events, such the UEFA European Championship.

Saintfiet did not hold back while speaking ahead of Mali’s second Group stage match against Morocco, describing the action as “deeply troubling.”

AFCON cycle change disappointing – Mali coach Tom Saintfiet

I’m shocked with it, very disappointed. It’s all instructed by the big people in UEFA, the big clubs from the five leagues, and also by FIFA, and that makes me so sad.

“I’m sad about that, and I hope the love for Africa would win out over the pressure of Europe.

Saintfiet added that the new cycle disregards the continent’s football heritage.

“We fight so long to get respected in Africa, for African people and Africa’s own identity to get respected, but then to listen to Europe to change your history, a 68-year history, for financial reasons…I think we disrespect [Africa] by going to four years,” he added.

On the field, Mali opened their 2025 AFCON campaign with a 1-1 draw against Zambia.

Ivory Coast icon Didier Drogba is admired by Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo, who claims that Drogba’s style of play is perfect for him.

After a strong start to the current season, Semenyo, who plays for AFC Bournemouth, has drawn a lot of attention ahead of the winter transfer window.

The Black Stars attacker claimed that the two-time Africa Footballer of the Year had a significant impact on his game, expressing his admiration for the former Chelsea player.

Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo reveals admiration for Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba

“I’ve always aspired to play like him. Excellent shooting technique, strength, and speed… He simply fits my style of play. “Left foot, right foot, can head the ball.” He uttered those words.

Semenyo is expected to be at the centre of a transfer bidding war in the winter transfer window, with a £65 million release clause in his contract at Bournemouth set to be active in January.

With several clubs aware of the situation, it is understood that they are circling to bid for the Black Stars forward.

Bournemouth had previously ruled out a January sale of Semenyo in an attempt to keep the forward for the foreseeable future.

But with his £65 million release clause set to be active in the next transfer window, the pacey Ghanaian forward to depart the Vitality Stadium for a new challenge.

Andoni Iraola has confirmed that he can not influence Antoine Semenyo’s future

Although he acknowledges that he has little influence over Antoine Semenyo’s destiny, Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has reaffirmed his desire to retain onto highly sought-after winger Antoine Semenyo.

The 25-year-old has been connected to Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City.

But according to new claims, Chelsea reportedly made an attempt to sign the former Bristol City forward in January.

When asked about Semenyo’s future, the Spanish manager responded, “Antoine Semenyo is with us right now.” He’s playing really well. I’m worried that he won’t be impacted.

“He’s played very well, he’s committed to the team and and I hope we can keep him. There are things happening out of our control.

“Antoine, for me, has been performing very well. The level of consistency has been very good since the beginning of the season.

“He’s very valuable for us – not just the numbers, but a lot of things

“You never know what is going to happen. In the summer there were a lot of movements. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the winter movements.

“At the end, you sign a contract and understand that both parties are happy. I hope we don’t lose him, but I don’t know,

“I can’t control what’s going to happen,”  he added.

Semenyo, who signed a fresh contract until 2030, has a £65million release clause in January. He has enjoyed a strong 2025-26 campaign, providing eight goals and three assists in 16 Premier League appearances.

Semenyo will hope to continue his goalscoring form when Bournemouth host Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday at the Vitality Stadium.

For the first time since 1988, Morocco will host the 24-team Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which offers festive season entertainment throughout North Africa’s chilly winter months.

The majority of the top teams on the continent will compete in the tournament, which was expanded to its present format in 2019. However, powerhouses Ghana are noticeably absent due to their failure to qualify.

As the Ivory Coast try to keep the crown they won at home two years ago, it’s always a tournament with amazing drama and compelling characters.

Morocco roar into AFCON 2025 with commanding win over Comoros in Rabat

At the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco defeated Comoros 2-0 on Sunday night to start their AFCON 2025 campaign. They overcame an early penalty loss to win all three points.

In front of an enthusiastic 60,180 spectators, the Atlas Lions began their quest for their first continental championship since 1976, extending their winning streak to 19 games.

In the eleventh minute, Iyad Mohamed hauled down Brahim Diaz in the box, giving the home team an early lead. Yannick Pandor, the goalkeeper for Comoros, made a brilliant save, denying Soufiane Rahimi from the spot with his left knee.

Comoros remained compact and disciplined, frustrating Morocco throughout the first half. The breakthrough finally arrived ten minutes after the restart when Díaz was left unmarked near the penalty spot and swept home Noussair Mazraoui’s low cross, sending the home crowd into celebration.
