Manchester United

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United is making a £55 million bid for Chelsea attacker Mason Mount.

Erik ten Hag’s first priority for the upcoming summer transfer window is Mount, and the Manchester United manager wants a deal to be completed swiftly. The future of the England international at Stamford Bridge is becoming more uncertain as his contract enters its final year.

Old Trafford insiders claim that negotiations on a transfer for the 24-year-old are about to start.

Mason Mount

Mount is valued at around £55 million by United, far less than Chelsea’s estimate of £85 million.

Given Ten Hag’s intention to add the attacker to his ranks next season, the Red Devils could be willing to raise their original assessment of Mount.

However, it is obvious that United intends to sign Mount this summer, and the mystery surrounding the Blues academy graduate’s future is expected to dominate the offseason.

In addition to United, Mikel Arteta wants to capitalize on his team’s second-place success this season, so Mount has interest from both Arsenal and United.

In order to rebuild his midfield after a difficult season, Jurgen Klopp is actively seeking a deal for Mount with Liverpool. In a perfect scenario, Mauricio Pochettino, the next Chelsea manager, would love Mount to sign a new contract.

US to face Black Stars of Ghana in October

According to a recent statement, the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) will host two eagerly awaited friendlies in October against Ghana and Germany.

The USMNT’s match against Germany will take place on October 14 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut. At Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee, they will play Ghana three days later, on October 17.

As they get ready for their quarterfinal Concacaf Nations League games the following month, these games will give the USMNT vital chances to test themselves against strong international competition.

There have been notable meetings between Ghana and the USMNT in the past, particularly at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups. The USMNT prevailed 2-1 in a friendly match between the two teams in 2017, which was their most recent encounter.

Ghana is a well-known African squad and is currently rated 47th in the FIFA World Rankings, which presents a significant challenge. At Geodis Park, which has a capacity of 27,500, the game versus Ghana will be played. Interestingly, this will be the USMNT’s first match at Geodis Park.

The USMNT must win these friendlies against Germany and Ghana in order to show their mettle against elite international teams and be ready for upcoming events.

Additionally, these games provide supporters with a thrilling chance to support their club and watch the USMNT in action.

Separately, later this month, Ghana will play Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications.

mechanic

Dauda Seidu, a Ghanaian football player, has talked openly about how he combined working as a mechanic with playing football throughout his formative years.

Samartex, who are presently in seventh place in the Ghana Premier League standings, have the 23-year-old on their roster.

Seidu claimed in an interview with TV3 that he always wanted to play football but had to take on some low-paying occupations since times were hard.

The midfielder said that he even had experience as a bus operator and eventually became a technician.

Prior to obtaining a move to Samartex at the start of the 2022–23 season, Seidu played football while also working as a mechanic for his former club Ashanti Gold SC.

He stopped working as a mechanic and is now a regular in Ghana’s top division, putting all of his attention towards his football career.

“When I was young, my dad used to buy boots for me. I had the chance to travel abroad, however, upon my return, things became difficult. I had to find work as a labourer and even as a Trotro conductor at times,” Seidu told TV3.
“I finally made the decision to become a mechanic. I worked in that field while playing for Ashantigold before later moving to Samartex.
“I no longer have financial issues at my current club because they pay me on time. However, expenses remain high,” shared the dedicated player.”

Seidu is a member of the Samartex team, which is competing in the Ghana Premier League for the first time and hoping to place in the top four.

Tariq Lamptey

Tariq Lamptey, a defender for Brighton & Hove Albion, has admitted that the friendliness of Ghanaians affected his choice to play for the Black Stars, the senior national team.

Tariq Lamptey claimed that when he first visited Ghana, Ghanaians offered him a warm welcome, which influenced his choice to change his nationality from England.

Lamptey expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he got in Ghana during an appearance on the Citi Breakfast Show and admitted that it had an impact on his decision-making.

While he acknowledged that a number of circumstances played a role in his choice to join the Black Stars, he said that the unforgettable emotion he had while working with the Ghanaian people on his charitable foundation was a turning point.

“It was a number of things that went into it but one of them was when I was doing my charity foundation last summer, and you see the people and the amazing feeling that they give you. So that obviously made the decision.

“To be fair you don’t know what to expect when you come, and it was that time of the decision and like I said it was amazing, and I’m always grateful.”

Lamptey also expressed gratitude to his Black Stars teammates for facilitating his smooth transition to the senior national team and made improvements to the squad’s outlook for the future.

“It was amazing, we have a very good team, we have a mixture of some great players in Europe, it was very easy, it was like a family, and we know what we can do.”

Before electing to play for Ghana, Lamptey, a current player for Brighton & Hove Albion, had previously represented England at the youth level.

At the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, he made his first World Cup debut with the Black Stars.

Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney was found guilty of infringing FA Rule E8 232 times between February 2017 and January 2021, while on loan from Newcastle to Scunthorpe and Wigan before joining Brentford permanently in 2020.

As a result, he has been handed an eight-month ban.

“Brentford FC has received and accepted the written reasons of an independent Regulatory Commission that handed Ivan Toney an eight-month ban from all football and football-related activity after he admitted breaches of FA Rule E8, relating to placing bets on football,” reads a statement on the Bees’ official website.

“The judgement has been published on the FA website. Ivan and Brentford FC accept that offences were committed, and sanctions were inevitable.
“The commission noted that none of the charges related to events where Ivan could negatively impact his own team. The detail is included in the written reasons.”

The documents read: “The present case is not one of match-fixing. If it was, the charges would have been pursued under different provisions. There is no evidence that Mr Toney did or was even in a position to influence his own team to lose when he placed bets against them winning – he was not in the squad or eligible to play at the time.”
The document continues by saying: “The commission finds that a significant reduction should be made to reflect the diagnosed gambling addiction identified by [psychiatrist] Dr [Philip] Hopley. The lack of control the player has in respect of gambling is clearly a reflection of his diagnosed gambling addiction.”

Toney did not participate in any match-fixing activities, but between August 2017 and March 2018, he placed 13 bets on his own team to lose seven separate games while he was not present at any of the matches.

No proof… in a position to influence his own team to lose when he put bets against them winning – he was not in the squad or allowed to participate, according to the documentation in his case.

Toney is going through a difficult time in his personal and professional life, and Brentford has promised to do everything they can to support him. They said, “The club will now be doing everything necessary to give assistance to Ivan and his family to cope with the concerns brought in this case. To protect the athlete and his family, any conversations about this and other issues pertaining to the case shall be kept private.

“We consider this matter closed and look forward to welcoming Ivan back to training in September and seeing him representing Brentford in the Premier League in January.”

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland has been named the official 2022-23 Premier League Player of the Season.

During Erling Haaland’s debut season with Manchester City, the 22-year-old Norwegian appeared in 35 EPL games, scoring 36 goals and providing eight assists.

Until Haaland accomplished this astounding accomplishment, no player had ever scored more than 34 goals in a single Premier League season.

Haaland beat out fellow contenders Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, Kieran Trippier, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Odegaard in a vote to win the award this season.

Furthermore, the City forward overcame Saka, Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, Sven Botman, and Alexander Isak to earn the Premier League’s official Young Player of the Season award.

Haaland responded to his twin achievement on Twitter, writing, “Proud and humbled to become the first-ever footballer to win both Premier League Player of the Season and Premier League Young Player of the Season.”

“I owe this to my family, fans, teammates, and the entire staff!”

Earlier this month, Haaland was named Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.

Boxing in Ghana, according to veteran Ghanaian boxer Joshua Clottey, has no future owing to a lack of planning and investment.

The former IBF welterweight champion believes there is no advancement from the amateur level, which is supposed to be the sport’s base.

Clottey observed that, unlike national football teams, which prepare for weeks before competitions, young boxers are rushed together when there is a competition.

When asked if he saw a future for boxing in the country, he told Adom TV, “For now, to be honest, no.” That is correct. Because amateur fighters represent the future, when they compete in the Commonwealth Games and even win gold, no growth plan or attention is provided to them, and as a result, they lose in subsequent competitions.

“For example, they are managed by a single coach and do not even arrive on time due to poor preparation.” They might arrive two days before a competition and go weighing the next day. Such preparations will provide no results.”

“Because you need to arrive at least ten days before the competitions to be acclimatized to the system,” Clottey remarked.

“Meanwhile, if it had been the Black Stars, proper preparations would have been put in place through better sponsorships.”

Ghanaian boxers have struggled on the world stage in recent years, suffering crushing defeats at the hands of the elite.

Isaac Dogboe just blew the opportunity to become the WBO Featherweight champion when he lost a unanimous decision against Robeisy Ramirez.

Richard Commey has also lost his previous three fights, the most recent of which ended in a knockout loss to Jose Ramirez.

Mikel Arteta

In order to guarantee that they “nail” the summer transfer window, Mikel Arteta claims that Arsenal have a “really promising plan” in place.

After falling short to Manchester City in the championship battle, the Arsenal are motivated to make improvements to their team over the break.

Declan Rice, the captain of West Ham, is Arsenal’s top target, and the club might spend up to £200 million on new players.

The team is also considering adding a new attacker, a center defender, and potentially another midfielder.

In order to have a significant influence at the club, Arteta continued, “We have to nail everything we do and we have to pursue perfection in all we touch and engage in.

“I predict that the competition will be much tougher than it was this season. It’s been the most challenging of the 22 years I’ve played in this league, in my view.

“We have a pretty exciting approach to do that. We might need to pause for a moment, stand back, and confirm that this is the best course of action before continuing with renewed vigor and a burning desire to succeed.

This season, Arsenal got off to a quick start, and Arteta thinks that’s because they completed their tasks beforehand.

“That certainly contributed to the team getting the right foundation, building the right chemistry, reaching the right level of comfort and security with the new players to give them a little bit of time to adapt to a new life in a new country and a new team,” said Arteta.

“That developed naturally. We had some excellent players as well as some excellent individuals who rapidly integrated into the squad.

“We created it from the start because we wanted it, and the outcomes helped, which is essential. At that point, we gained strength.

Black Starlets

According to Black Starlets assistant coach Laryea Kingston, the Black Starlets are being raised with an aggressive football mentality.

Last month, Ghana won the UEFA U16 Development Tournament in Serbia before competing in two friendly against the Saudi Arabia U17 team.

Since being chosen coaches of the U17 national team, Kingston and Karim Zito’s Black Starlets have scored 31 goals in eight games.

Kingston claims that the U17 team’s style of play is even comparable to that of Manchester City.

“One thing we should all know is that we are an attacking team. You can see that we played three friendlies before the tournament in Serbia and two games against Saudi Arabia, We’ve played eight matches and have scored 31 goals,” he told reporters at the unveiling of the Baby Jet U16 tournament.

“The least goals we have scored is three in a game. I know people will say Ghana national team is a one goal project, now we are scoring goals and definitely opponents will get the chance to score but at the end of the game we make sure we win,” he added.

“Of course, we are scoring we will have to concede. Man City score a lot of goals and concede, if you have the stats of Manchester City, they score a lot of goals and the goals they have conceded is almost half of what they have scored. So we should focus on the positives.”
