Former Ghana international Tony Yeboah has said that Ghana football is dead in the West African country, claiming that everyone knows it.

Ghana football has failed to attract fans, with poor attendance at the different stadiums this season.

In an interview with Accra-based Peace FM, the former Black Stars striker stated that he has no idea what is going on in the nation in terms of football since he does not keep up with it.

“I don’t know what is going on because I don’t follow,” he said. “Everyone knows Ghana football is dead because they didn’t listen to the advice we gave them from the beginning.

“So I think they are currently facing the punishment. If you involve bribes and stuff like that in football, you will destroy the game.”

Yeboah, an Entraintch Frankfurt icon, also suggested that the leadership take a more interest in developing players and reviving Colts football in order to create the outstanding players that Ghana is known for.

“The only advice I can give them is to go back and train the kids for youth (football) and develop Colts football, because otherwise it will be difficult to get top players like we used to have.” It will be really difficult.”

Ghanaian clubs have struggled to qualify for the CAF inter-club championships’ group stage.

Berekum Chelsea are the latest Ghanaian team to have reached the CAF Champions League group stage, while Asante Kotoko are the last Ghanaian club to have reached the Confederations Cup group stage in 2019.

The Black Stars have failed to snap the country’s trophy drought of 41 years. The squad was eliminated from the group stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon after finishing last in their group with only one point.

Otto Addo’s team was eliminated from the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after winning just one game.

Osimhen

Napoli may win the UEFA Champions League championship next season, according to Victor Osimhen. In the 2022–23 season, the Partenopei won their first Scudetto in thirty years.

Although Napoli performed admirably in the Champions League, Serie A rivals AC Milan ousted them in the quarterfinals.

Osimhen is certain that the Parthenopeans would successfully defend their championship and win the Champions League title the following year.

“This season has been brilliant for me, my teammates and the Neapolitans. I think I’ve done so well this season and deserve every good thing I’ve got, but I feel motivated to do even more next season,”Osimhen told DAZN.

“Everything is possible. Just like when we started the season, lots of people didn’t believe in Napoli. If the President says we can win it, I believe it, everything is possible.”

Who is Victor Osimhen

Victor James Osimhen MFR is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Napoli and the Nigeria national team. Considered one of the best strikers in the world, he is known for his elite finishing, pace, strength and athleticism.

Asamoah Gyan painfully reveals the worst Black Stars moment

Asamoah Gyan, a legendary striker from Ghana, has shared his worst moment while playing for the Black Stars.

The former captain of Ghana claims that the harsh criticism he received early in his time with the Black Stars caused him to lose his love for his own nation.

I struggled in 2008. I constantly go back to the 2008 competition since I was unfairly criticized in a match that we won, which made me lose interest in the national team, he told Asempa FM.

“It was a game versus Namibia, and I still have nightmares about it now. Ghanaians told us that we ought to have dominated the match, he said.

However, the 37-year-old recovered from that and had a good tournament two years later after leading the Black Stars to the final of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola. He scored three times at AFCON 2010. “Fast forward, we were went to Angola, I was very fit and even at the first presser I said Ghana will reach the final. Unfortunately I picked an injury in the first match so had to start from the bench against Ivory Coast.” he continued.

“Camp was amazing because the U20 boys joined the team and I was like a leader in the team so had to find a way to gel with the young ones, Everybody was up for the tournament and it has been one of the best camps I have been at.”

Joseph Paintsil

A late goal from eventual champions Royal Antwerp caused KRC Genk to forfeit the Belgian league title, which led Black Stars winger Joseph Painstil to have a disappointing season.

When Toby Alderweireld, a former defender for Tottenham Hotspur, scored in extra time to win the championship for the visiting team, Genk was just seconds away from recovering the trophy.

Toluwalase Emmanuel gave Genk the lead just before halftime. As a result of the Union Saint Gilloise and Club Brugge match’s favorable outcome, Genk briefly regained the league lead.

Antwerp, nevertheless,

drew even following the interval thanks to Gyrano Kerk.

Although Simon Adingra scored early in the second half to put Union Saint Gilloise on top, Bryan Heynen gave Genk the lead once again.

With three goals conceded starting in the 89th minute, Saint Gilloise crumbled and handed the championship to Genk.

But Alderweireld’s incredible goal in the dying seconds gave Royal Antwerp its first championship since 1957.

Ghanaian midfielder Christopher Garvin Scott, a German-born player

With Royal Antwerp, Ghanaian midfielder Christopher Garvin Scott, a German-born player, won the Belgian league championship.

The 66-year wait for Antwerp to win the league title came to an end thanks in large part to the former youth star of Bayern Munich.

Following a stoppage time equalizer from former Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld, Royal Antwerp unexpectedly won the league in the final minute of their game against KRC Genk.

The Reds fell out of the title race as Genk defeated them 2-1 in the 15th minute.

After the interval, Antwerp’s Gyrano Kerk tied the score after Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare had given Genk the lead just before halftime.

With 15 minutes left, Bryan Heynen gave Genk the lead once more, and they went on to win the league after Union Saint Gilloise faltered in the final seconds of the three-team league title fight.

Alderweireld then created a moment of magic when his shot from outside the box reached the net, giving Genk the championship.

In the suspenseful game’s 90th minute, Scott took Kerk’s position.

He appeared 22 times for the Belgian team during the 2022–2023 league campaign.

Black Stars

Joetex Asamoah Frimpong, a former Ghanaian international, has described a horrific injury that almost lost him his life during a World Cup qualifier.

From 2005 until 2009, the 41-year-old played for the Black Stars, earning 11 caps and scoring two goals for his nation.

At the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Frimpong was a member of the Ghanaian team that played Uganda in a 2006 World Cup qualifier.

However, the forward was unable to finish the match and was taken out after a rough collision with the opposing goalie.

When describing the occurrence, Frimpong said he seriously injured a rib and may have passed away if not taken to the hospital right away.

“Because of the World Cup, I almost died in Kumasi. Against Uganda, we won 2-0. After Essien’s goal, I got a pass. It was a 1v1 with the goalkeeper, I run and the goalkeeper jumped and injured my rib,” he told ETV, as quoted by Ghanaweb.
“I was rushed from the pitch. It was not like after that injury I stopped playing but I continued playing the next game against South Africa, Cape Verde and all. Till now, the bone is swollen.”

Frimpong went on to express his regret at not being selected for Ghana’s World Cup team that year in Germany.

“After everything I did, because of the World Cup… I was disappointed and sad I didn’t go to the World Cup. I didn’t believe it. Until now I am still disappointed,” he added.

The late Christian Atsu’s widow, Marie Claire-Rupio, has defended herself in the wake of backlash over a video in which she can be seen dancing.

The German dancer and author gained notoriety after posting a video of herself dancing to Davido’s smash song “Unavailable.”

However, some of her fans weren’t impressed with the video and criticized her for dancing while her spouse was just gone.

In response to this, Claire-Rupio said on Instagram that she dances to cope with her pain, not because she’s joyful.

“Yes, I did publish a dancing video. I’m just writing to say a few things. I have to find a method to deal with my loss, not because I am happy,” the widow stated.

“I’m not alone myself; I have three kids to look after on my own. I must be strong for them, therefore I can’t let myself fall apart. Dancing was always my love, and in Europe, you deal with mental health in many different ways.

So, pardon me, but just consider what you’re writing or posting before you do it online. I’m grateful.

IT TAKES MORE THAN BEING A GOOD PLAYER IN THE DOMESTIC LEAGUE TO PLAY FOR THE BLACK STARS – MOHAMMED GAGO

Former Ghana International and Nsoatreman FC head coach Mohammed Gago believes it is not all good players in the GPL can play for the Black Stars.

Despite coach Chris Hughton’s itinerant of match centers to scout players. The latest Black Stars squad for the upcoming game against Madagascar lacks home-based players.

With Antoine Semenyo out injured, Hughton selected Kwasi Okyere Wriedt over the leading goal scorer in Ghana’s Premier League, Abednego Tetteh. Questions have been raised over the decision, but Gago insists not all good players in the local league can play for the national team.

The local Scene is not like the International scene and wearing the national team jersey is not easy at all, he told Radio Gold.

“It’s not every player that is good on the local level at the same time can stand good at the national level.”
He added,
“It takes a lot of commitment, and we have to know that one player cannot change the Black Stars.”

Abedenego Tetteh is the leading top scorer with 16 goals in the Ghana Premier league whiles Okyere Kwasi Wriedt has bagged 3 goals for his side in the German Bundesliga 2.

Ghana will then play away to Madagascar on 18th June at Antananarivo in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Super Eagles

Former Super Eagles winger Garba Lawal says that the Flying Eagles have instilled terror in the world by eliminating the 2023 U-20 World Cup hosts, Argentina.

Remember that Nigeria defeated Argentina 2-0 to get to the Round of 16? In the 61st minute, Ladan Bosso’s team’s first goal was scored by Ibrahim Muhammad.

Rilwanu Sarki headed into the goal deep into stoppage time to give Nigeria the decisive victory.

They will now compete against either Korea Republic or Ecuador to go to the tournament’s semifinals. In a conversation with Completesports.com following the team’s triumph, Lawal commented that the Flying Eagles had put themselves in a position where other teams would be wary of playing them.

“Given that many people didn’t think the Flying Eagles had a chance to shock Argentina, this is unquestionably a huge victory for the squad,

“I really adore the way they attacked the contest and scored crucial goals. Congratulations to Ladan Bosso and his team for their accomplishment.

“Now that we’re in the quarterfinals, other teams will be wary of playing the Flying Eagles, and that’s exactly what I want from the team.”

They will now compete against either Korea Republic or Ecuador to go to the tournament’s semifinals.

How Sevilla Beat Roma On Penalties To Win Europa League

Sevilla won the Europa League on penalties after defeating Roma.

After Gianluca Mancini and Roger Ibanez failed to convert for Roma, Gonzalo Montiel scored the game-winning penalty in the 2022 World Cup final.

On Wednesday, Sevilla discovered their Europa League magic formula, defeating Roma 4-1 on penalties in Budapest to make it a perfect seven out of seven finals appearances.

After Paulo Dybala’s opening was cancelled out by an own goal by Roma defender Gianluca Mancini, the game ended 1-1 after extra time. At a noisy Puskas Arena, a bad-tempered yet tense encounter went to a shootout, with Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou proving the hero with two saves.

Gonzalo Montiel, who scored the game-winning penalty in the 2022 World Cup final, converted the deciding penalty after Roma’s Mancini and Roger Ibanez failed to convert.

The victory is a remarkable accomplishment for 62-year-old Jose Luis Mendilibar, who took over as Sevilla manager in March and is now enjoying his first major championship.

“We are going to enjoy this because it has cost a lot and right now I don’t know if I will renew or not and I don’t care,” said the Spaniard, who is not certain to be at the club next season.

The veteran coach was hired to save the team from relegation and has since led them to safety and European triumph.

“When I arrived I told the players that they were very good but that they were not mentally in the right place and that was my job,” he said.

“They have shown me in the end that they are very good.”
