Brennan Johnson, a forward for Tottenham Hotspur, has commended Mohammed Kudus’s attributes since joining the team.

Earlier this summer, the Ghanaian international moved from West Ham United to the North London club. Kudus has already hit the ground running by impressing in the pre-season games.

Tottenham forward Brendan Johnson lauds Mohammed Kudus' impact

“I’ve been really impressed with him since he came in. Really nice guy as well,” Johnson said in an interview with football reporter Alasdair Gold.

“Last season, there were quite a few games where I don’t think we even had 11 first-team players,” Johnson admitted.

“Getting as much quality as we can is important, and it is what we need because we are in the Champions League and want to go far in all competitions.”

He added that, “It wasn’t just a one-off thing. We want to be in the Champions League every year. We need the quality and depth in the squad.

“We are getting there. Hopefully, we can stay fit this season, and it will give us the best chance to compete in all competitions.”

After his unsuccessful transfer to OGC Nice, Ghanaian international Ransford Yeboah-Königsdörffer has quickly returned to Hamburger SV in Germany.

After both teams agreed on a €7 million transfer fee, the Black Stars attacker had taken a step closer to joining the French team instead of Hamburger SV.

In order to register the forward for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League qualifier against SL Benfica, Nice sought to complete the signing of the forward as soon as possible.

Hamburger SV shocked by Ransford Yeboah-Königsdörffer’s failed OGC Nice medical

But Yeboah’s required medical examination indicated a meniscus problem at first. In order to acquire the Ghanaian international, Nice decided to back out of the agreement after a second test.

Yeboah’s failed move seems to have Hamburger SV in a state of shock. The Ghanaian forward had only missed two games in the previous three years due to muscular problems, so the German team wasn’t prepared for this development.

The gifted Ghanaian attacker is anticipated to continue his streak with the recently promoted Bundesliga team next season after failing to secure this move.

Since joining Hamburger SV in 2022, the 23-year-old attacker has made a name for himself as a vital player. The forward scored 14 goals for Hamburg in the Bundesliga 2 last season.

The free-entry event showcased grassroots boxing prowess with exciting performances from over 30 amateur and juvenile boxers.

All participating fighters received essential equipment thanks to the initiative’s founder, Joe Bronya, a coach and ring official from the Netherlands. Gloves, boots, protective gear, training kits, and clothing were given to boxers, and punching bags were given to a few gyms, such as Black Panthers, Attoh Quarshie, and Akotoku Academy.

Rev. John Wesley Lawson of supporting group MPT Foundation GH urged discipline and rigorous training, pledging expanded support in 2026: “We’re assessing gym needs to elevate platforms for these athletes.” Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) Vice President Alhaji Dauda Fuseni praised Bronya’s commitment to youth development, noting fulfilled promises to the boxing community.

SafeBox’s Mubarak Nanor thanked partners and hinted at broader gym inclusion next year. The event was attended by former GBF President George Lamptey and ex-world champion Joshua “Hitter” Clottey, highlighting boxing’s unifying legacy in Bukom.

According to Ghanaian local media, Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey is reportedly negotiating a deal to Villarreal CF in Spain. The agreement goes forward even though the 31-year-old is still being prosecuted in the UK for alleged rape.

Partey’s five-year stay at Arsenal may come to an end soon as he agreed to personal terms with the La Liga team. He had been tried to be retained by the North London club, but talks broke down. After 104 games for the Gunners, his departure represents a major change.

The former Atlético Madrid player remains embroiled in a legal case, with a court appearance scheduled at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5. The charges, unrelated to football, cast uncertainty over his immediate sporting future. Villarreal has not publicly commented on the transfer or legal matters.

Inaki Williams and Nico Williams, two Spanish-Ghanaian football players, have jointly refuted claims of auto fraud in Spain.

According to earlier reports, Inaki and Nico Williams brothers, who are listed on Athletic Bilbao’s books, are accused of defrauding the company out of €80,000 for a Mercedes AMG E63.

An automobile dealer in Spain had accused the two of engaging in a fraudulent transaction by not paying for the car fully.

Despite admitting the existence of the accusations, the pair quickly denied any misconduct in a statement.

“After learning from the media about a potential complaint against us and gathering information, we can confirm that a complaint has been filed based on facts that do not correspond to reality. We categorically deny committing any crime. There are no factual or legal grounds for any accusation of criminal behavior,” the brothers said in a joint statement.

Inaki and Nico dispute the accusations, but they say the current events are an attempt to harm their name. The two have stated that they are willing to work with law police and plan to demonstrate their innocence while taking action against the people who made the unfounded charges.

Prior to the 2022 World Cup competition, Inaki Williams, who was named captain of Athletic Bilbao, played for the Spanish national team before switching allegiance to represent Ghana.

Nico Williams, on the other hand, has chosen to play for Spain and was a key part of the team’s victory in the 2024 European Championship.

The duo are expected to play a huge role for Athletic Bilbao in the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign. The Spanish outfit will be competing in three major competitions next season following their qualification back to Europe after long-term absence.

Athletic Club will open their La Liga season with a home game against Sevilla as Nico and Inaki aim to impress.

FIFA Pauses GFA Plan to Expand Executive Council Representation

Osikanitv.com has reported that FIFA has temporarily denied the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) request to increase the number of members on its Executive Council from 12 to 22.

The goal of the proposed modification was to improve representation among Ghanaian football’s many stakeholders as part of a larger revision of the GFA Statutes.

FIFA temporarily rejects GFA proposal to expand Executive Council membership

The plan aimed to add further seats for one representative from constituent organizations like referees, school football, and other related groups, eight remaining Regional Football Association (RFA) chairpersons, and one woman chosen by the Women’s Premier League clubs.

FIFA, however, has recommended against moving forward with the expansion at this time, stating that additional evaluation and a more methodical approach to future major structural changes are required. The international governing body underlined that although inclusion is a worthwhile objective, the timing and procedural alignment need careful consideration.

Only two of the numerous ideas that the GFA made as part of its agenda for law change were accepted by FIFA. In accordance with CAF and FIFA governance rules, the GFA President’s term restriction will be increased from two to three terms. A discrepancy in the current statutes that allowed Executive Council members to serve three terms while limiting the President to two is also fixed by this.

The elected Women’s Representative on the Executive Council will now serve as the 2nd Vice President of the GFA. This aligns with FIFA’s mandate for meaningful female representation and reinforces the GFA’s commitment to gender equity and the strategic advancement of women’s football.

These developments are the result of a three-year-long review process, initiated when the GFA received a wide array of proposed statutory amendments from its membership. In response, the Executive Council formed a Statutes Review Committee, chaired by Dr. Randy Abbey, to oversee the review and harmonization of the proposals.

The committee ensured a broad-based stakeholder consultation, engaging clubs from the Premier League, Division One League, Women’s Premier League and the Regional Football Associations to contribute to the reform dialogue. The consolidated proposals were then submitted to FIFA Governance in collaboration with CAF Governance for evaluation.

Now that FIFA has endorsed two key proposals, the GFA is set to present them for ratification at its upcoming Congress on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

With two goals and an assist to lead his team to win in the Leagues Cup’s opening round, Painstil became the hero for LA Galaxy.

“It’s a great feeling. Missing a penalty is something that can affect a player but I’m really strong in situation like that. The most important thing is the victory. I thank God for the win and the two goals as well” he said.

With two goals and an assist to lead his team to win in the Leagues Cup’s opening round, Painstil became the hero for LA Galaxy.

Matheus Nascimento of LA Galaxy broke the tie after just 17 minutes of play, while Gilberto Mora quickly tied the score for Tijuana in the 21st minute.

Brazil international Gabriel Pec scored just before the half to give the home team the lead again and send them into halftime ahead.

After the half time break, the visitors staged a swift comeback to level the score for Tijuana through Gilberto Mora in the 59th-minute, his second of the match.

However, it was the Ghana international, who led the demolition exercise for LA Galaxy in the second half of the match. He scored to restore the lead for his side in the 65th-minute before Marcos Reus added the fourth goal.

In stoppage time, the former KRC Genk star found the back of the net again to seal victory for LA Galaxy. The pacey winger denied himself a hat-trick after missing a penalty kick in the match.

Painstil has been impressive for LA Galaxy since returning from injury. He has scored four goals and provided an assists in 17 appearances in the Major League Soccer while scoring one in the Leagues Cup.

Sudan Coach Kwesi Appiah Eyes Success at CHAN 2024

Under the leadership of Kwesi Appiah, the seasoned Ghanaian coach entrusted with leading the Northeast African nation back to prominence in continental football, Sudan enters the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) with quiet confidence.

The competition, which only includes players selected from domestic leagues, will be the Falcons of Jediane’s third participation.

Kwesi Appiah leads Sudan into CHAN 2024 with optimism

After a 1-1 draw over two legs and a 2-1 aggregate victory over Ethiopia, they defeated Tanzania on penalties to advance to the next round. Appiah, who was hired in September 2023 following the departure of Moroccan coach Badou Zaki, had a successful campaign.

Having captained Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and other Africa Cup of Nations competitions, Appiah, 64, is well-known in African football circles. He has already led Sudan to the 2024 AFCON since becoming power. His attention is now on CHAN, a tournament in which he is taking part for the first time.

Al-Ghorbal, also known as Mohamed Abdel Rahman, is the striker that leads Sudan’s team. As the third-highest scorer in the nation, the Al-Hilal forward provides a plethora of experience and a proven track record of scoring goals both domestically and internationally.

Sudan’s best CHAN result came in 2011 when they finished third as hosts. Ranked 113th in the world, they hope to mount a serious challenge this year as the tournament unfolds across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. They will face Congo, Nigeria, and defending champions Senegal in the group stage.

For Kwesi Appiah, this tournament offers another chance to shape his legacy within African football.
