Angola vs Ghana: what you need to know

In the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying round, Angola vs Ghana. Date: November 15, 2024 Time: 20:00 UTC Venue: November 11 Stadium. In Luanda, Angola’s Belas.

Our expert football prediction for Angola vs Ghana is a 1-1 draw. Angola has won all four of their AFCON games, but they may have to defend their lead against Ghana, who are struggling after their poor recent performance.

After suffering two losses and a back-to-back draw in their previous four meetings, the Black Stars will be keen to win here for the first time.

However, given that both sides seem prepared for Friday’s match, we believe this match will result in a draw.

We provide an accurate football prediction for Ghana vs. Angola. Under 2.5 goals The Sable Antelopes only scored more than two goals once in their last four games, even though they had scored in their previous four games.

But with only one goal in their last four games, Ghana has struggled in front of goal. These statistics support our prediction that there won’t be more than two goals scored in this matchup.

At the Africa Cup of Nations, Angola is playing quite well; they have won four of their last four games. After defeating Ghana by a slim margin in the first match of the campaign, they defeated Sudan and then defeated Niger both at home and away in Group F.

Angola

Pedro Goncalves, the coach of Angola, has questioned Ghana’s chances of making it to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, calling them “low to impossible.”

Even though the Black Stars have little chance of qualifying, winning their final two games—against Niger in Accra and Angola on Friday, November 15—is crucial. Additionally, Ghana needs Sudan to lose their next matches against Angola and Niger.

Goncalves emphasized the difficult task Ghana confronts, saying that if Sudan defeats Niger on Thursday, it will guarantee Ghana’s elimination before they even play Angola in Luanda.

“While Ghana is undoubtedly a strong contender, their chances of qualifying are low to impossible at the moment,” he stated.

Ghana would miss out on the tournament for the first time since 2004 if they don’t qualify, which might lead to major changes in the composition of the national team.

Official Black Stars training will take place in Luanda.

Official Black Stars training will take place in Luanda.

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the Black Stars of Ghana will officially train at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda in preparation for their pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier versus Angola.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. local time.

After three successful training sessions in Accra, the Black Stars arrived in Luanda on Wednesday night as they get ready for a game they must win to maintain their prospects of qualifying. With just two points from four games, Ghana is currently in third place in Group F, behind Sudan and Angola.

So far in the qualifications, Angola has a perfect record and leads the group with 12 points. They are five points ahead of Sudan, who are in second place, and ten points ahead of Ghana. Ghana needs to win on Friday night in order to have any chance of making it to the 2025 tournament.

With the second leg of the qualifier against Niger also approaching, the Black Stars will be looking to earn a crucial three points in Luanda. Ghana’s chances of qualifying depend on both their own performance and Sudan’s performance in their remaining games.

Coach Otto Addo’s men are determined to put in a strong performance in the penultimate qualifier as they hope to earn a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Morocco.

Frimpong Manso: Black Stars players need to change their mindset.

Frimpong Manso, a former Ghanaian international, has urged the Black Stars’ playing body to alter their mindset and thinking over the team’s future.

Manso’s comments follow the team’s dismal showing in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying tournament.

The Black Stars are in danger of missing out on the AFCON event, which will be held in Morocco next year, as they are winless after four games and currently sit third in Group F with just two points.

The Bibiani GoldStars coach, however, stated in an interview that the team’s players need to adopt a new mindset.

He also urged the team’s technical managers to bench players who appear to put their clubs before representing their country.

“Black Stars need a change of attitude. As it stands, chances of qualifying for the AFCON are over but they will need to change their attitude ahead of the World Cup qualifiers,” he told Asempa FM as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com.

“It is bad to see them under pressure to win games minutes to end the games. I know some of them are committed but those who are lackadaisical must be dropped because these are the same players who play for the World Cup qualifiers.

“There must be some drastic changes because some of the players seem to be prioritizing the clubs over the national team,” he added.

On Friday, November 15, Ghana will host Angola at the Estádio 11 de Novembro. On Monday, November 18, Ghana will welcome Niger in their final match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With only two points from four games, the Black Stars are currently in third position in Group F and are working against all odds to make it to the tournament.

Ghana must win both of its remaining games and hope Sudan loses its next games against Niger and Angola in order to qualify for AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

Gideon Mensah: "We'll be available for any potential Sudan slip."

Gideon Mensah: “We’ll be available for any potential Sudan slip.”

Gideon Mensah, the left-back for Ghana’s Black Stars, has stated his belief that his team is ready to take advantage of any opportunities that may arise from Sudan’s possible mistakes in the closing stages of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tournament.

The Black Stars must hope that Sudan falters in their next two games against Niger and Angola because Ghana’s hopes of qualifying are dependent on outcomes beyond their control.

Ghana’s performance and Sudan’s outcomes will eventually decide if Ghana qualifies for the tournament in Morocco.

For the Black Stars, the calculation is straightforward but difficult: they need to defeat Angola and Niger in their remaining games while praying Sudan loses both. Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the AFCON would be dashed if Sudan managed to draw even once.

“We are made for this. The journey is not always going to be smooth. We’ve come to a junction where we have to hope and work for ourselves,” Mensah said after the Black Stars’ first training session in Accra on Monday.

“We are going to watch the game and see what will happen but at the end of the day, the focus is to pick our six points and anything that happens on the side, we are there for it.”

Before concluding the qualifiers at home against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18, Ghana will play Angola in Luanda on Friday, November 15.

With just two points from four games, Ghana is currently ten points behind Angola and five points behind Sudan in third place in Group F.

Black Princesses

Following their early elimination from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, the Black Princesses have returned home.

On Tuesday, the Black Princesses, technical staff, and management team members landed in Accra. Six players, meanwhile, came straight from Colombia to play for their respective clubs: Jenna Sapong, Helen Alormenu, Alexandra Emefa Tay, Salamatu Abdulai, Tracey Twum, and Asana Alhassan.

After two losses and a victory in Group E, Ghana was unable to go past the group stages for the eighth time in a row.

The Black Princesses suffered a crushing defeat to Japan in the second game after losing their opening match to Austria, who were making their debut.

They made amends, though, by defeating New Zealand 3-1 in their last group match, but it was insufficient to advance Ghana.

2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Alexander Djiku Unavailable For Black Stars’ Games Against Angola And Niger

Alexander Djiku, a Turkish defender, left the Black Stars before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications.

This week, the Black Stars finish their qualifying matches against bottom-rock Niger and Angola, who have already qualified.

Before hosting Niger in the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, 2024, Ghana will travel to Luanda to play the Palancas Negras on November 15.

Djiku, who was first included in the 25-man roster for the forthcoming matches, has withdrawn, nevertheless, due to a worsening of an already-existing hamstring issue.

When Fenerbache thrashed Sivasspor in the Turkish first division on Sunday, the former Strasbourg defender was substituted out.

“It’s an aggravation of an existing hamstring that got him substituted in their last game on Sunday, November 10, 2024,” the Ghana FA said in a statement.

On Monday night, the West African superpower will begin getting ready for the next game.

Due to their lackluster performance in the qualifying series, the Black Stars are in danger of missing out on the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.

After four games, Ghana has suffered a terrible AFCON qualifying campaign, losing two and drawing two. They are now third in the standings going into the last round of games this month, having only managed two points.

To maintain their prospects of qualifying for the tournament in Morocco the following year, the Black Stars must now defeat Angola and Niger, who have already qualified, and hope that Sudan loses to these same opponents.

Following this month’s (November) international break, Asante Kotoko will resume their Ghana Premier League home games at Baba Yara Stadium.

On December 12, 2024, in a week 13 match, Asante Kotoko will return to their home field in time for the much-anticipated “Super Clash” versus longtime rivals Hearts of Oak.

According to information obtained by Osikanitv.com, the stadium will reopen following its September closure for renovation by the National Sports Authority.

A lot of people were upset with the pitch’s state during Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match versus Angola.

Kotoko has played four home games at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi while they are away from Baba Yara Stadium. They have won three of those games (against Nsoatreman, Accra Lions, and Samartex) and lost one (against Heart of Lions).

Next week, they will play Nations FC in their final match in Obuasi.

Otto Addo stresses Black Stars 'door never closed' on Andre Ayew

Otto Addo, the head coach of the Black Stars, has once again spoken to the media about his choice to leave Andre Ayew out of the squad before the important 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Niger and Angola.

The Le Havre forward has not been called up by Otto Addo since the March 2024 international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda.

Addo stressed that Ayew still has the chance to rejoin the national squad despite the 34-year-old veteran’s continued absence.

“The doors are always open. When asked regarding Andre Ayew, he said, “I look at the performance,” after first stating that he would not discuss his predicament further.

Ayew was initially left out of the Black Stars’ roster for the World Cup qualifying matches against the Central African Republic and Mali in June 2024.

Addo disclosed at the time that he had personally visited France to inform Ayew of his exclusion from the squad for those two matches. Ayew, however, disagreed with Addo’s explanation for the omission.

“I had a long chat with Andre and gave him the reason why he is not in the squad,” he said.

“I talk to players directly and I don’t like to put information out about what we spoke about.

“This is the decision we took and it’s not like he necessarily agreed, but I still have big respect for him.”
