Inaki Williams, Ghana Black Stars striker, has promised to score a goal for the nation in the game against Chad in their upcoming 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Inaki Williams Promises To Score Against Chad

It has been evident that Inaki Williams has not been on the level Ghanaians expected from him since joining the Black Stars; he has struggled to adapt to the playing style of the team and has not been in the form he was in at Athletic Bilbao.

He made his debut for the Black Stars in September 2022 and has managed to score 1 goal in 17 appearances.

Ghana Football Association shared a video on their official page that features Inaki Williams. In the viral video, the striker made a great promise to score a goal for Ghana against Chad; he said, “Hello, Ghanaians. How are you doing? I’m home. On Friday, I’ll score a goal. See you.”

From this statement, many Ghanaians have shown support for the striker to end his goalscoring drought and make an impact on the pitch for the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Black Stars will host Chad tonight at the Accra Sports Stadium in a pivotal match that could significantly boost Ghana’s chances of securing a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

Ghana currently sits in third place, level on points with second-place Comoros, as they face Chad and Morocco in their upcoming fixtures.

Ghana Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has urged Ghanaians to be patient with the national team, even though there are challenges that need to be overcome.

Captain Jordan Ayew Urges Patience Amid Black Stars' Struggles

In recent years, the Black Stars of Ghana have been struggling in all competitions, especially in the AFCON. The team used to be among the best in Africa, but now there is a lot to be worked on to win trophies and claim that title back.

Most Ghanaians have shown their frustrations about the team suffering from back-to-back group stage exit from the AFCON in both Cameroon and Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars performed poorly in 2024, recording only 2 wins in 10 matches played, which led the team not to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.

Jordan Ayew admitted that it will take some time for Black Stars to get to where Ghanaians want it to be.

“International football has periods, and we are in a period of transition. The head coach [Otto Addo] has also come in with different ideas, so it will take time,” the Leicester City striker said.

“Look at Man City and their struggles this season, for example. It is the end of an era and it’ll take time for them to build again.

“I think we need patience because I’m convinced we have the players to turn things around.”

Ghana will host Chad tonight at the Accra Sports Stadium before flying to play Madagascar on Monday in Morocco.

Wilson Arthur, the chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, has announced that the 2024–2025 competition season will see increased cash advantages for participating clubs.

Ahead of this weekend’s Round of 64 matches, he made this statement in an exclusive interview on Channel One TV’s Football Made in Ghana.

According to Wilson Arthur, clubs will gain more money from the competition than they did from the previous season, even if the committee is now experiencing a deficit.

“It’s been difficult bringing on new sponsors. Star Times used to contribute $80,000 for this competition but this season, they withdrew their support so we have a deficit but still this season we are improving even what we gave the clubs last season.”

Lamine Yamal Wins 2024 Golden Boy Award

Lamine Yamal Wins 2024 Golden Boy

Vicky López, a star of Barça Femení, earned the Golden Girl award, while Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, the youngest winner of the 2024 Golden Boy award for the greatest under-21 men’s player in the globe, took home the Golden Boy on Wednesday.

Following in the footsteps of teammates Pedri and Gavi, Yamal, 17, is the third Barça player to win the men’s award in the last four years. After Linda Caicedo and Jule Brand, López took home the third edition of the women’s award.

Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid, who took home the trophy the previous year, is replaced by Yamal. Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland are among the other former winners since the prestigious award was instituted by the Italian sports publication Tuttosport in 2003.

Since making his debut for Barça’s senior team in 2023 at the age of 15, Yamal has garnered numerous honors, this one being the most recent.

He became the youngest recipient of the Kopa Trophy, which is given to the greatest under-21 player in men’s football, when he won it at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in October.

Yamal also finished eighth in the voting for the Ballon d’Or on the back of a breakout year for club and country, helping Spain win the European Championship last summer and playing a prominent role in a new-look Barça side under Hansi Flick.

GFA

On Wednesday, November 27, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo will meet with the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Executive Council to discuss the team’s performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The technical report that Addo produced, which assessed the Black Stars’ performance during the qualifiers and the technical team’s overall performance under his direction, will be the main focus of this important conference.

The Executive Council decided to meet with the coach last Wednesday to talk about the report and the team’s performance since Addo took over earlier this year, which led to this conclusion.

The GFA announced the meeting in a statement, emphasizing its significance in deciding the future course of Ghana’s national football team.

“The Executive Council will meet the Head Coach of the Black Stars, Mr. Otto Addo, on the 27th of November, 2024, to discuss his technical report on the just-ended AFCON qualifiers and the overall performance of the technical team since assuming duty earlier this year,” the statement read.

The discussion will also serve to clarify the Black Stars’ inability to earn a spot in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

There has been a lot of debate over the Black Stars’ future after the sad outcome, and this meeting should provide some information about the GFA’s future plans.

As per the resolutions reached at the last meeting of the Executive Council, the Black Stars’ Management Committee was promptly disbanded. This decision gives the next conversations more weight because it indicates the GFA’s intention to assess the team’s management structure and guarantee a route to future success.

Thomas Partey

Charles Ogunmilade, a 28-year-old recruitment consultant and Arsenal fan, was fined £260 for making a hateful racist comment about Thomas Partey, a midfielder for the Gunners.

A 3-3 tie between Arsenal and Southampton on April 21, 2023, resulted in the unsettling occurrence. Ogunmilade referred to Thomas Partey as a “dirty black c–t” on social media following the Ghanaian international’s shot that went over the crossbar.

Many people were outraged by Ogunmilade’s bigoted post and demanded that he be held responsible for his conduct. When the matter went to trial, Ogunmilade maintained that, in spite of his heinous actions, he is not a racist.

Since then, the court has fined Ogunmilade £260 for his infraction; many believe this is an excessively light punishment given the seriousness of his acts.

More good news: Arsenal crushed Nottingham Forest 3-0 over the weekend, and Partey was on the scoresheet.

The Gunners are hope Partey stays healthy and contributes to his team’s success this season.

Since joining Arsenal in 2020, Partey, 31, has been a vital member of the team.

Arsenal will be looking to build on their recent win over Nottingham Forest as they aim to climb up the Premier League table.

With Partey in top form, the Gunners will be hoping to finish on a high this season.

Otto Addo

After Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, former Black Stars management committee member Ernest Thompson has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to fire Otto Addo and his technical staff.

The senior national team’s failure to qualify for the tournament, which will be held in Morocco next year, has raised questions over the 47-year-old’s future.

Ghana ended at the bottom of Group F with three draws and three losses after six games played, with 0 wins.

To decide on the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach’s future, the GFA Executive Council will convene on Wednesday, November 27.

Thompson criticized the players and the technical staff in an interview with Joy Sports, calling the Black Stars’ current situation intolerable.

“For me, the problem is two-fold. We have a bad technical team. They are not up to the task if they are to lead us in the next five years because Ghanaians don’t have the patience to wait for a coach who is young and still learning,” he stated.

“Otto Addo has done his best. At times, you promote people to their level of competence, and beyond that, they cannot do much. He’s done his best, and I think at this stage, he and his technical team should go,” Thompson said emphatically.

In addition, Thompson voiced worries about the Black Stars’ lack of cohesion, characterizing the group as a collection of individuals rather than a unified whole.

“That team you’re calling the Black Stars is not a team; it is a group of individuals who are very conflictual. There’s so much conflict in that team. Kurt [Okraku] and the rest should take responsibility for keeping things to themselves,” he noted.

He went further to highlight the extent of the division among the players, claiming that spiritualism and internal conflicts are undermining the team’s performance.

“There’s spiritualism in that team; there’s conflict in that team. They only come and stand on the pitch as if they are together. It’s not a football team we have there; it’s a group of individuals who are highly conflicted,” he said.

During Sunday night’s Ligue 1 match between Stade Rennais and Lille, Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu sustained a critical injury.

Only 17 minutes after making an unfortunate fall and rupturing the cruciate ligaments in his left knee, the Black Stars right-back was replaced.

The Ghanaian was treated on the field for a few minutes before being replaced by Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye, who was subsequently seen using crutches.

Alidu Seidu

On Monday, Seidu will have a scan to ascertain the severity of his injuries and the duration of his absence.

“I can’t diagnose; we will do tests tomorrow,” said Rennais manager Jorge Sampaoli.

At Decathlon Arena-Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Edon Zhegrova’s goal in the first half gave Lille all three points.

Since joining Rennais in January 2024, Seidu has played a significant role for the Red and Blacks, winning Player of the Month in September.

Due to an injury, the 24-year-old was unable to play in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Niger.

Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Semenyo, a forward for AFC Bournemouth and Ghana, claims his increased performance is due to his playing freedom.

Throughout the current season, Antoine Semenyo has contributed significantly to the Cheeries’ four goals in 12 games across all competitions.

Semenyo talked about his outstanding performances in an interview with Sky Sports prior to their match against Brighton & Hove Albion.

“It’s continuing working hard, enjoying the game, just playing with no pressure,” he said.

“I feel like just being easy on the pitch, like, having that freedom is what’s given me my success right now so just need to continue playing with no pressure really just continue to enjoy the game, have fun with the ball and try to rack up as many goals as I can.” he added.

Semenyo missed Ghana’s final round of games in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, games the Black Stars recorded a 1-1 drw and a 2-1 defeat respectively.

Let's forgive Black Stars

The Black Stars’ inability to earn a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition has prompted former Youth and Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah to ask for forgiveness.

Ghana had three points after six games, three draws, and three losses, placing them at the bottom of Group F.

For the first time in two decades, the Black Stars will not participate in the AFCON tournament, which will be held in Morocco the following year.

Speaking on GHOne TV, Afriyie Ankrah begged for forgiveness in spite of the team’s inability to qualify for the tournament, despite requests to disband the playing body and technical team.

“I think that as a country, we never actually exorcised the issues that came about during the 2014 World Cup,” he said.

“I think that there was too much focus on the drama. Of course, when issues happen, it’s news. But the root causes were not dealt with. So, I think that as a country, we need to forgive them; we need to let them go. I know what I’m talking about. Any adult person will understand what I’m saying. As a country, we need to let them go.”

“You see, the coach said something; nobody has paid attention to it. He said part of the reason why they lost the Niger match was because of the hatred of Ghanaians towards him and the team. And people didn’t pay attention to that. Now, that has a lot of implications, even for him.

“But if you want to look at it from that perspective, when I watched Kudus going to play the penalty, what were the chants? Away, away. So there’s a disconnection somewhere in the country. Every nation has a soul.”

The four-time champions will now turn their attention to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March 2025 with games against Chad and Madagascar.
