Hearts of Oak

A major accomplishment for the club, Hearts of Oak has officially acquired the keys to their new commercial center.

On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, the transfer ceremony was held. Notable attendees included Togbe Afede XIV, board member Vincent Sowah Odotei, and CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority Akwasi Agyemang.

With satisfaction in the club’s new addition, Togbe Afede XIV said, “This is a demonstration of our commitment to building an infrastructural base for Accra Hearts of Oak.”

“These infrastructural enhancements, including ongoing works at Kpobiman, are integral to our strategic plans of positioning Accra Hearts of Oak at a competitive level within the football landscape globally,” said an official statement.

The club may now access and use the new facility, even if the building’s furnishing is still in progress. This is because the major construction phases have been completed.

This move is thought to be a major step toward improving the club’s overall reputation and facilities.

Hearts of Oak, who placed 14th on the table the previous season and just about avoided relegation, are also getting ready for the new campaign with the goal of bolstering their team.

The club sees these infrastructure upgrades as essential to their ascent to the top of the local and worldwide football leagues.

Ibrahim Osman, a winger from Ghana, made his Brighton & Hove Albion debut in a preseason match against Kashima Antlers in Japan.

The club, which is playing two games in Japan as part of its preseason tour, traveled to Tokyo alongside the 19-year-old forward.

Osman was included in the starting lineup for the Premier League team’s 5-1 victory over Kashima Antlers on Wednesday morning.

The 15th minute saw Gambian forward Yankuba Minteh, a fellow summer addition, open the score, giving the Seagulls a goal edge heading into halftime.

After the interval, every player was replaced, and in the second half, goals from Yasin Ayari and Jeremy Sarmiento came in fast succession. Amario Cozier-Duberry made it 5-0 with a brace before Homare Tokuda gave the hosts a late consolation goal.

As they get ready for the new season, Brighton will next take on Tokyo Verde.

Hearts of Oak sign Babiani GoldStars defender Samuel Amofa

Samuel Amofa, a defender for the Bibiani GoldStars, has been acquired by Hearts of Oak.

Prior to the 2024–2025 season, the 25-year-old leaves the Bibiani-based club to join the Phobians.

Amofa, who formerly competed in the Ghana Premier League with Liberty Professionals, is anticipated to bolster the team’s defense in front of the upcoming season.

Because of his versatility as a midfielder, Hearts of Oak may use the robust guardsman in a variety of roles.

Along with Nations FC’s Asamoah Boateng Afriyie and Michael Awuah, he becomes the club’s third signing of the window.

At the Kpobiman Sports Complex, the Phobians are now getting ready for their August 11 Homowo Charity Cup matchup against Hearts of Lions.

In addition, they are anticipated to play a friendly match against Medeama SC five days later as part of Tarkwa T&A Park’s launch.

William Apenteng has shared his delight about joining Nations FC of the Ghana Premier League.

Apenteng expressed his excitement to help the team succeed in his first interview following the deal.

“I’m ecstatic to have joined Nations FC. This is a big step in my career, and I’m prepared to give the club my best. Apenteng told the Nations FC reporters, “I’m excited to collaborate with the coaching staff and my new teammates to achieve great success together.

“My goal is to support a strong defense and assist the team in reaching its objectives. I am eager to begin this new adventure and am filled with excitement,” he continued.

Apenteng, who is renowned for his tactical awareness, strong defensive abilities, and ability to read the game, is regarded as one of Division One’s greatest defenders. Several elite clubs have noticed and praised him for his outstanding achievements with Susubiribi SC.

As Nations FC aims to improve on its performance from the previous season, Apenteng’s addition is anticipated to have a major effect on the defense.

Michael Awuah Mensah

Michael Awuah Mensah, a recent addition to Hearts of Oak, has asked the team’s supporters to keep believing in them as they prepare for the forthcoming Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians, who finished 14th in the league table the previous season and nearly avoided relegation, lost to Asante Kotoko 2-1 in the first-ever Democracy Cup. The fact that they had lost to their bitter rivals for the third time raised fears among supporters.

Mensah, who transferred from Nations FC to the club, is upbeat about the future of the group in spite of these failures. He emphasized the value of the supporters’ constant support and showed faith in the club’s management and their initiatives to raise the team’s performance.

“We were hurt after falling short to Kotoko in the Democracy Cup. We wanted to lift the trophy to appease our fans after a disappointing season,” Mensah said in an interview.

“I will urge the fans not to lose hope in the team. The fans should exercise patience. I believe the leadership of the club are working around the clock to make things better.”

Mensah is resolved to make a major contribution to the squad’s success after agreeing to a three-year contract with the Accra-based team. “Nobody should be surprised if Hearts of Oak wins the league,” he continued. We are capable of winning the league. Since Hearts of Oak is a large club, our league championship would not be shocking.

The signing of Mensah and the club’s continued efforts to bolster the team have Hearts of Oak supporters optimistic about a more fruitful season to come.

Frank Acheampong, a Ghanaian international, scored for Henan FC during their 2-1 Chinese Super League victory at home against Zhejiang Professional.

In week 24 of the top flight, the former Black Stars winger was called into action on Sunday as his team visited Zhejiang Professional.

Acheampong gave a great performance to assist Henan FC win easily and earn the three maximum points that were up for grabs.

Leonardo gave Zhejiang Professional the lead after just four minutes of play, giving Henan FC an early fright.

But after Bruno Nazario set him up, the Ghanaian international gave the home team a response in the 22nd minute.

Henan FC increased their lead in the game just before the interval, thanks to another goal from Zichang Huang.

And as there was no more goal in the second half, the home team won handily to earn the most points. Acheampong played for seventy-nine minutes before Yihao Zhong took his place.

After signing with the team, he has scored three goals and contributed two assists in twenty games.

In February 2024, the 30-year-old forward became a member of Henan FC. His deal with the team expires in December 2025.

Alexander Djiku, the Ghanaian defender for Fenerbahce, has praised Jose Mourinho, the team’s new manager, for his tactical nous, saying that the group is putting in a lot of effort to adjust to his new game plan and philosophy.

Since joining the Istanbul-based team in the summer, 29-year-old Djiku has been pleased with Mourinho’s management style. The defender had an incredible rookie campaign, participating in 36 games, scoring three goals, and dishing out two assists.

Jose Mourinho is entering his first Turkish football league with Fenerbahce, adding to his already impressive coaching resume that includes managing teams in Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain.

Ismail Kartal, Fenerbahce’s former manager, was fired after his team lost to rival Galatasaray by a mere three points in the Turkish championship.

Djiku gave a positive statement about the ongoing preseason training to Fenerbahce TV.

“We’re training quite nicely. The friendly match we have scheduled is quickly approaching. We’re picking up the pace and level. There was a strong and caliber squad the previous year. Numerous players are still active this year, Djiku said to Fenerbahce TV.

“We are trying to understand and establish our coach’s game tactics and philosophy. He is truly a great coach and tactician. He has won everything throughout his career and is a football legend. Benefiting from his experience makes us very happy,” he added.

I want to get West Ham back to Europe - Mohammed Kudus

Mohammed Kudus, a midfielder for West Ham United, is focused on getting the team back into European competition after they were out of it the previous season.

The 23-year-old Ghanaian, who was a standout player for the Hammers the previous season, expressed his desire to contend for a top-six Premier League finish in addition to securing a European ticket.

Mohammed Kudus, who moved from Ajax Amsterdam to West Ham last summer, made an impression with his performances in the Europa League and the Premier League.

In 48 games across all competitions, he recorded an astonishing 18 goals and seven assists, winning him titles like Europe’s best dribbler for the 2023–24 campaign and West Ham’s Goal of the Season for his incredible 70-yard solo effort against SC Freiburg.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Kudus expressed his determination to build on his previous success.

“Personally, I want to do better than I did last season with numbers and performances,” Kudus told the club’s website.

“But most importantly, I want to help the team get back into Europe and challenge for the top six. That’s my main goal – to help the team achieve those objectives.”

Kudus’ drive and performance will be essential as West Ham gets ready for the upcoming season as they aim to qualify for Europe once more and finish higher in the Premier League.

Ibrahim Sulemana

During the summer transfer window, Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana joined Atalanta Bergamo Calcio, the winners of the Europa League.

Ahead of the 2024–2025 season, Ibrahim Sulemana transfers from rivals Cagliari to the Italian team. Following his transfer to the Serie A in 2021, where he played for Hellas Verona and Cagliari, Sulemana has become as one of the best young players in the Italian league.

After scoring a goal to ensure Hellas Verona’s survival versus Spezia in the 2022 playoffs, the diligent defensive midfield player assisted both clubs in surviving another league season. He played a crucial role in helping Claudio Ranieri’s team avoid relegation the previous campaign.

A number of major European clubs took notice of him due to his performances in the Italian league, and Atalanta moved quickly to sign him.

Sulemana will begin preseason training with his teammates as Atalanta prepares ready for a hectic season that begins with a Super Cup matchup against Real Madrid.

After winning the Europa League the previous season, Atalanta will also compete in the UEFA Champions League.

Asante Kotoko won the first Democracy Cup on Wednesday night at the Accra Sports Stadium after a dramatic match against their bitter rivals, Hearts of Oak. Ghana celebrated 30 years of parliamentary democracy with the game.

Along with prestige, the win got Asante Kotoko a ticket to play Major League Soccer team DC United in the United States on a date to be disclosed by the organizers.

Before the 2024–2025 season, both teams were keen to win back the trust of their supporters following a dismal season.

In the thirty-minute mark, Asante Kotoko took the lead thanks to a penalty kick that Justice Blay converted. At halftime, the Porcupine Warriors were still ahead 1-0.

Asamoah Boateng Afriyie, a recent addition to Hearts of Oak, scored a header to tie the score after the break. Given that Kotoko’s goalie Frederick Asare was hurt in the process, the goal was contentious.

But Kotoko took the lead back when Peter Amidu took advantage of a Hearts of Oak mistake on defense, winning 2-1 for the Kumasi-based team.

Asante Kotoko’s confidence is greatly boosted by this victory as they get ready for the next season. Hearts of Oak, meantime, are still having trouble and need to find answers soon in order to improve their situation.
